A busy week on the the air

A quick update with a couple interviews from the week. First "Death of a Clown" came to town this week and I talked to a couple of the Clown Killers on Monday.

Also, live music this week from Sly Violet. She was nice enough to drop in this morning and chat.

Thanks to Youtube BS i had to cut the interview in half.

Just a quick update, thanks for listening to Long Beach Radio.

St. Paddy's Eve on the West Coast

Another Whalefest is behind us. Congrats to the team who put it all together. Long Beach Radio couldn't make it to nearly as many events as I would have liked but here are a few highlights from events I made it to. Cam and Myself Emceed Martini Migration, thanks the Current Swell for rocking the night away, here's a not-very-flattering picture of the boys doing their thing.
Part way through the night we got the crowd to give us a little whale song. The iPhone didn't really do it justice, but here's a memory from the night.... in case you don't have any of your own.

A number of great events took place on Sunday March 14th. Part of all that fun was the creating of this photo. Can you spot yourself?

I interviewed Johns Quigley about the process and meaning of this photo, before the event.

I chatted with a few other Whalefest folks and here's an interview with Serge Dedina. He was here to share stories and insights on marine conservation and catch some surf.

Well, as the title of this blog installment indicates it's St Paddy's tomorrow. You can bet I'll be down at the Dockside Pub for green beers and Rock and roll from Nye Sullivan and the Hosers. Here a video I took of the kids rockin a few months back.

Well, folks I'll try to keep up on the blog a little better as the summer nears. Thanks for listening to Long Beach Radio.

Whalefest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right West Coasters (and whoever else may be reading) it's the 24th annual Pacific Rim Whale Fest!!! I'm not going to do the event justice here but there is a lot of good info on their official site.

There are a few of the event I'm going to highlight though.

Martini Migration is on Wednesday the 10th. A celebration of migrating gray whales, the return of the sun, and a bottle or two of gin (or vodka). This year the entertainment is the Island's own Current Swell and the event will be hosted by myself and Cam Dennison. It WILL sell out so get yerself a ticket.

Barnacle Blues is a party not to be missed at the Blackrock Resort on March 11th. This year is Blues Veteran David Gogo taking the stage. A guitarist so talented it's frustrating.... there will also be barnacles to eat but that sounds like some sort of thing zombie pirates would do, I'll stick to the tunes. Again get your ticket soon cuz this WILL sell out.

Another great event during the Whale Fest is the WHALES. This year it looks like the bulk of the gray whales' northerly migration will coenside perfectly with the festival, so be sure to get out on a boat and see the spectacle for yourself, the longest mammal migration on the planet.

Please don't go thinking this is all that happens at Whalefest. There are literally hundreds of things to see and do. Go to their website.

I'll have pic and vids from Whalefest soon. Thanks for listening to Long Beach Radio.
